Gawith Hoggarth Bulk BROWN IRISH TWIST |
Same as Black Twist but "the brown form"... comes straight from the spinning machine, instead of undergoing a further process of cooling under pressure to turn it into black tobacco.

I just got a new meerschaum and was about to load it with an English blend when my package from 4noggins arrived. I picked up 2 oz each of five different types of bulk tobacco. The twist was what I decided to start with since I've never even seen tobacco like this before. I sliced off a piece and stuffed it in my pipe and tamped it down. I lit it up and it tasted incredibly exotic, albeit without the funk that comes from latakia. The outer leaf tasted like cigar binder to me. This stuff packs a BIG punch--I had to let it go out and come back inside. It is strong and a little harsh, but it burned nice and cool in my new meerschaum calabash. Definitely a great experience and it tastes just incredible.

Very smooth. Very clean and fresh tasting.
Flavor and room note is by no means overwhelming;I can't quite pinpoint what the flavor reminds me of, but it compliments McEwan's ale perfectly. A little soapy but not so much it that you can feel it in your nose.
Definitely worth trying if you like dark birdseye but want a little more flavor.
