Gawith Hoggarth Bulk LOUISIANA PERIQUE FLAKE

Gawith & Hoggarth's Louisiana Perique Flake is a dark, richly flavored Vaper with a nice, gentle sweetness, and a deep, almost woody Perique bottom notes -- all seasoned lightly with a Lakeland style scent. My supply arrived in May, 2010, and the dark, thinly sliced flakes were too long, and too fragile, to store conveniently in half-pint Mason jars, so I immediately rubbed-out all of it before jarring and cellaring. From the jar it has a pleasant, slightly sweet, and slightly fruity aroma, which is pretty consistent with the taste of the smoke. A few seconds under a hot air blower dries it out to perfection. Rubbed-out, it packs, lights and burns very well, producing a good volume of chewy, luxurious smoke. It has a very mild Lakeland style scent (somewhat floral and soapy); a mild and only slightly sweet Va flavor; and a rich Perique taste that is more chocolatey than fruity, and not very peppery. It is a flavor matrix that goes very well with coffee. It has medium body, medium strength, and medium-to-full flavor -- a combo that makes for a very smooth smoke at any time of the day. It burns cleanly, and dryly to the bottom without gurgle or goop; and surprisingly, it doesn't ghost a briar very deeply; but still, I would recommend using a pipe dedicated to the Lakeland blends.

A very fine tobacco in all senses of the word except the cut. A fine flake Virginia with Perique. Very mild and an exceptional morning(with dark roast Cajun French coffee)An excellent way to start the morning and very friendly for an all day smoke. After a little drying out and a rub-up an easy fill. Great taste without being the least bit overpowering. What can I say?
