RATTRAY'S
| At the age of 23 Charles Rattray left the tobacco firm of Fairweather in Dundee to open his own shop in Perth. Within a few years, the name of Charles Rattray, Perth Scotland was known world-wide as mail orders poured in for such tobaccos as Black Mallory, Hal O' the Wynd, Jock's Mixture and others. Two world wars came and went as did employees at 158 High Street in Perth, but one thing always remained constant--the dedication to produce the finest smoking tobaccos possible. Old Charles is gone now, but the tradition of quality he started and insisted on carries on today. Experience the finest in Old World hand blended quality tobaccos with every bowlful of Rattray's--Charles would be proud his name is still on the classic blends, still made as he intended. |
Aromatic line of Rattray, with broken flakes, loose cut and curly's. Aroma is cognac.
A tobacco with all the fragrant properties of 7 Reserve, but a little more full in body was what a customer sought, and in time 3 Noggins evolved.
This all day tobacco is of the same quality and grade as Red Rapparee, with this difference, that all the proportions have been adjusted to suit the all day smoker.
Dark and full-bodied without harshness. Great for outdoor smoking. Many strong mixtures are harsh and stringent. Accountants Mixture is truly an outstanding exception.
The basic tobacco's are broadly akin to those of Red Rapparee. Carefully apportioning of the quantities of seasoning leaf brings about a dark full-bodied mixture. A notable tobacco.
As the name suggests, this tobacco is almost jet black in color but no description can do justice to its distinctive, tangy aroma.
Dark in color, but mild is the only way to describe this blend. Gentle to the palate.
Dark Fragrant encompasses the need to relax. Rich in flavor, smooth in body, choice Orientals added to enhance this sublime mixture.
This is a strong, sharp, aged red Virginia blend that will perk you up quickly.
The outstanding feature is the pronounced flavor of robust Latakia. This tobacco has earned proper recognition by those smokers who have a particular liking for this type of leaf.
A very dark and full-bodied, mild mixture of surprising flavor and very slow burning with exactly the necessary touch of Latakia supported by a good portion of Cavendish.
A companion to Old Gowrie. A shade darker, greater strength, different aroma, but otherwise a tobacco in the same tradition.
Old Gowrie is a Virginia tobacco prepared in the old-time manner as a broken flake or "rubbed out" for those who favor a finer cut. Its essential charm is its coolness and tranquilizing properties which has led it to find its way all over the world.
This mixture is made from the same basic tobaccos as the other brands, but lightly seasoned with Orientals to suit many customers who only desire a suggestion of Eastern tobaccos.
Exhilarating and elusive, quaint and seductive, Red Rapparee is a symphony of delicate odors and sweet contemplative reverie. Prepared from choice Red Virginias and heavily flavored with Orientals, the blend has a beautiful red tinge.
