John Patton Bulk: STORM FRONT

A highly competent burley blend, though I haven't yet discovered the full magic that other reviewers have suggested is there. It arrived at perfect smoking moistness, packs well into the bowl, and takes a light easily with very few relights necessary. I'm going to need a few more smokes in various pipes to find the right combination that makes this blend shine. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but so far that's about it: like, not love.

Good Stuff

I smoke and love all kinds of unflavored tobaccos. I am biased towards no-nonsense Burleys that smoke well in all pipes, from backpack beaters to hand carved exclusives. No matter where I go, no matter what pipe I use, no matter what I do, Stormfront always delivers. Skiing at 7000 feet in the deep cold, Maui summer surfing at sea level, offshore salmon fishing in the North Pacific in all kinds of weather, hike-in backcountry rainbow fishing, all kinds of hikes and walks in the wet PNW rainforest, dry deserts in the rain shadow, urban, indoors, desk work, reading, manual labor, social gatherings or just chillin in my backyard--nothing others such a consistently reliable good smoking experience. Flavor and burn changes with pipes and circumstances, but it's almost impossible to pull off a bad smoke. I wish tjlp was still around so I could thank him.

I didn't smoke Storm Front since a long time ago. But the good memories have remained. An all tobacco day 👍

Have enjoyed this tobacco for quite some time. I find it extremely flavorful and burns quite well. Moisture is on the medium to dryer side of which I like. It is my go to tobacco with my cob pipes. It is quite mild and good change of pace from stronger burleys. Glad I took that chance on this one. Cigar leaf in whatever proportion is complimentary and certainly not dominate as name might suggest. I find this a true companion any time of day! Great smoke!!
