Cornell & Diehl Bulk: SUPER BALKAN

Let me start off by saying I'm a big fan of C&D. I find most of their tobaccos to be flavorful and easy on the tongue. Super Balkan is a good Balkan with a heavy Latakia presence. I did find it a bit bitey, though - perhaps from the Virginia Flake, which I also found to be a bit on the bitey side when I tried it.

70 year pipe smoker here saying if you like Balkan this one fits the bill.

I have been a pipe smoker for 70 years and have been a "Balkan" afficionado for 60 of those years. Initially with Balkan Sobranie as my mainstay until its demise. Then came Balkan Sasieni which I replaced 15 years ago by Balkan Supreme (originally purveyed by Peter Stokkebye now by Arango).

I am very pleased with Cornell & Diehl's Super Balkan; it is a superior Balkan and I use it as a daily switch out to Balkan Supreme. It burns slowly and never bites and is very taste friendly.

4 Noggins is to be commended for providing Cornell & Diehl products in bulk at a reasonable price point.

As a 50year+ pipe smoker, I have tried various English blends like the various Dunhills and Balkan Sobranies.in their original formulations. Modern equivalents are missing something. I don't know enough about the individual characteristics of the different blending tobaccos to say exactly what. I wish I knew. That said, the Super Balkan is quite pleasant to smoke and I would definitely buy it again.

I enjoyed this a lot, it’s spicy, Smokey, and sour. You can taste the virginias as well.
